Mohammed Asfan was one of a group of young people recruited by a travel agency that assured them they wouldn’t have to fight on the front lines. It is unknown when he passed away. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaddudin Owaisi, who has been in regular communication with the victim’s brother Mohammed Imran, stated in an interview with The Nationalnews24 that his family finally learned of Mr. Asfan’s passing on Wednesday following multiple attempts. Mr. Owaisi stated, “A staff member of the Indian Embassy confirmed that Asfan passed away.” Although his death was announced on March 6, it is not known exactly when he passed away.
