Current stock market| Sensex, Nifty reach all-time high on opening day of FY25: Three important components of the rally

Today’s stock market showed 2,606 equities rising, 417 declining, and 128 remaining constant.

Stock market today: On April 1, the first trading day of FY2024–25, the Indian equities benchmark Nifty50 reached a record high of 22,529.95 levels. The Sensex was up 567.59 points, or 0.77 percent, at 74,218.94, while the index broke its previous record of 22,526.6. At 22,519.10, the Nifty was up 192.20 points, or 0.86 percent. A total of 2,606 shares increased, 417 fell, and 128 were constant.The top Sensex gainers in early trade were Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, and Infosys, all of which opened 1% to 2% higher. Tata Motors, L&T, HCL Tech, Bajaj Finserv, and other equities saw advances. The opening session saw a 3.4% increase in Hindustan Aeronautics and a 5% increase in RVNL shares.

In terms of sectors, Nifty Oil & Gas, IT, Healthcare, Pharma, and Auto opened up about 0.9%, while Nifty Bank, Financial Services, Media, Realty, and Consumer Durables opened up over 1% higher. Nifty Midcap100 increased 1.3% and Nifty Smallcap100 increased 2% in the overall market.
