China and the Maldives signed a defense pact, under which China would give the Maldives free military help and Indian troops are expected to withdraw by May 10.

China and the Maldives inked a deal on Monday to strengthen defense cooperation. In order to strengthen ties between the two countries, China will give the Maldives free military support under this agreement. This agreement has been reached at the same time that the Maldives’ Muizzu government is driving out Indian forces.

Major General Zhang Baokun, an official of China’s Department of International Military Cooperation, was met by Maldivian Defense Minister Mohammed Maumoon. The two nations signed defense agreements during this time. Nevertheless, no details about this transaction have surfaced. Maldivian media reports that China has also given the Maldives twelve environmentally efficient ambulances.
