“It was quite strange,” commented Faf du Plessis following the loss to KKR. We sensed that the fastball was moving twice as fast in the first inning. You may have seen that the batsmen were having difficulty when the KKR bowlers were bowling cutters and back of length balls. It seemed like a fair score to us. We were aware that batting in the dark would be a little simpler. I believe there was also a small amount of dew. You can see how we batted throughout the opening game. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt, the opening duo, were commended by Faf du Plessis. “You find out only after the game,” he stated. We made an effort to try a few different things, but Narine and Phil Salt’s ball-striking technique was exceptional. They both played excellent batsmanship. Our bowlers are under pressure from them. We lost the contest because of several strong cricket shots performed by Narine and Salt. They both played outstanding batting and nearly dictated the result of the game in the first six overs.
