In the key Shirur Lok Sabha seat, actor-politician Amol Kolhe faces off against Ajit Pawar.

In the 2019 General Election, Dr. Kolhe—best known for portraying Chhatrapati Shivaji and his son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji—became the clear front-runner.

Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), said on Monday that it was a mistake to give actor-politician Dr. Amol Kolhe, the current MP of Shirur in Pune district, a ticket in 2019. He claimed that celebrities who were elected were not always enthusiastic about development projects in their constituencies.

He went on to say that by now, the boundaries dividing the two opposing NCP groups were obvious, and that workers shouldn’t have any doubts about the alliance between the Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar camps.
