Delhi budget: Atishi declares ₹1,000 in monthly support for women above the age of 18.

On Monday, Delhi Finance Minister Atishi announced the beginning of the “Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana,” which will provide ₹1,000 per month to women above the age of 18 starting in the fiscal year 2024–25.

During her presentation of the ₹76,000 crore budget for the fiscal year 2024–25 to the Delhi Assembly, Ms. Atishi stated that the program will assist over 50 lakh women in meeting their requirements independently of others. She declared that ₹2,000 crore would be allocated for the purpose.

In her first budget speech, the Finance Minister stated that a woman had to be a voter in Delhi, unable to get benefits from any other government program, and not an income taxpayer in order to be eligible for the program.

It was dubbed the “world’s biggest women empowerment programme” by Chief Arvind Kejriwal. Mr. Kejriwal made the following remark during a press conference: “A big announcement has been made for the mothers and sisters of Delhi.” By guaranteeing that they have money in their own names and possession, this would empower the women of Delhi.
